I connected with this person's passion for their views on racism and religion. There have been far too many horrors committed due to both. We are all part of one race, the human race, and yes our differences should be acknowledged, and embraced, not be cause for fear, judgment, and violence. That same concept holds true for diversity of faith, and often, as this person said, religion becomes a control mechanism seeking those who will follow blindly (sheep) and pass judgment on the "other," rather than promoting love and grace.
